Experiencing the Body of Christ, Flora Chen

When I was a third year business student in college I discovered the joy of spending personal time with the Lord on a consistent basis. Spending personal time with the Lord greatly revived my Christian life. And I can say that up to that point in my life I had never been happier.

Coming to the Full-Time Training in Anaheim brought me on to a deeper and fuller enjoyment of the Lord because I progressed from having just an individual Christian experience to having more experiences with other believers. I learned that the church, the Body of Christ, is very dear and precious to the Lord, for Ephesians 5:25 says “...Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her.” And it is with all the saints that we can apprehend God in full dimension. “That you may be full of strength to apprehend with all the saints what the breadth and length and height and depth are (Ephesians 3:18).” Furthermore, as individual Christians we are prone to be deceived and attacked by Satan (2 Corinthians 11:3, 1 Peter 5:8). Matthew 16:18 does not say that the gates of Hades shall not prevail against individual believers but that it shall not prevail against the “builded church.”

During my time in the Training the Lord has arranged a family situation, a physical injury, and other difficulties to bring me closer to seeing the Body of Christ. In the midst of these trials I learned to depend on other members of the Body. Many brothers and sisters prayed for me and with me. I will never forget coming home from the emergency room at 9:00 p.m. to a delicious meal prepared by a sister. I still remember talking to the sisters in my irrational and emotional state and how they sympathetically listened to me and shepherded me back to the right path. And I will always treasure the joyful times of singing and enjoying the Lord with other members. Praise the Lord for bringing me to the Full-Time Training to see and experience the Body of Christ in such a specific way. May the Lord continue to lead me on to see His Body in a richer and fuller way.
